Yes, you can still purchase a Marketplace plan, but you most likely will not receive a subsidy. When you enroll for a plan on the Marketplace, there is box that needs to be checked indicating if you are eligible for other coverage. If you are eligible, you will not receive subsidies.
There is an exception to this however, as the Affordable Care Act requires that all health insurance, even through your work, be considered ‘affordable.’ In 2025, this means that your health insurance premiums can not cost you more than 9.05% of your total income. If they do, you become eligible for a subsidy through the Marketplace.
It is not uncommon to have one person recieve health insurance through their job, but their spouse and dependents receive subsidies through the Marketplace. This happens because the job-based coverage is ‘affordable’ for the peron working there, but not considered ‘affordable’ for the rest of the family.
